Twelve Days, Four States, Two Whiskeys & One exciting start!

I’ve recently joined the Walsh Whiskey Distillery team and couldn’t wait to get out on the road, so it was with great pleasure that I packed my bag recently (full of Writers’ Tears and The Irishman) and headed Stateside to catch up with our US team. I had a jam-packed schedule of events before me, hitting Texas, Louisiana, Arizona and California on my travels. The aim of my trip was to spend time with distributor reps and bar staff, educating them on our two premium Irish whiskey brands – Writers’ Tears and The Irishman.

First stop: Austin, Texas; and it was great to meet with staff at the Total Wine & More liquor stores as well as bartenders and managers of some of the city’s top spots. It’s interesting to see the difference in preferences between liquor stores and bars, with bars more focused on mixology and cocktails – and Writers’ Tears Copper Pot is perfect for that!
On to New Orleans next where I seemed to have brought the Irish weather with me, but that didn’t dampen our spirits as the festivities of Mardi Gras were well and truly underway. Again Writers’ Tears was a big hit – a must pre-order before it launches at the start of March.

 

Finally, I got to experience the sunshine in Arizona and California! These state visits involved speed dating for whiskey (I’m always a swipe right!): distributor tastings and bar staff trainings. It was a hectic end to the trip but a successful one too! My very last job on the trip was a Writers’ Tears and The Irishman masterclass with some key L.A. bloggers and influencers. The whiskeys went down a treat on the evening, and for St. Patrick’s Day eight cocktail bars in L.A are hosting a pub crawl with The Irishman and Writers’ Tears cocktails for each stop!

 

I am now back in the homeland planning my next adventure, with plenty of great things to come. Keep your ears to the ground for any tastings, events and plans from myself and the Walsh Whiskey Distillery team.
