Walsh Whiskey crowned Exporter of The Year 2017

Exporter of the Year 

Carlow, Ireland – September 2017: Walsh Whiskey Distillery was announced as Exporter of the Year at the 2017 Carlow Business Awards, hosted by County Carlow Chamber. The annual awards serve to recognise excellence in business throughout the past 12 months.

Walsh Whiskey Distillery, home of premium and super-premium whiskeys, The Irishman and Writers’ Tears, was awarded the title of Exporter of the Year at the prestigious awards ceremony in The George Bernard Shaw Theatre and VISUAL Centre of Contemporary Art on Thursday 28 September 2017.

Leading businesses from a wide variety of industries were acknowledged for their innovation in business, best practice, enterprise and overall business success. Walsh Whiskey Distillery was applauded for demonstrating success in securing and building new export markets and developing a strategic export plan.

Irish Whiskey as a category is the world’s fastest growing spirits category, with 11.2% growth globally in 2016. Walsh Whiskey Distillery is currently exporting to 45 countries, having successfully won major new distribution routes this year, including the listing of our Irishman 12-Year-Old whiskey in Lufthansa first class lounges, as well as distribution to 6 new countries. We have also increased distribution deals in the United States, New Zealand, Australia, France and Finland over the past year.

Bernard Walsh, Managing Director, Walsh Whiskey Distillery said: “In the last 12 months we have grown our export markets significantly and have won some strategic new listings and distribution channels. These have been incredibly hard-won listings but our aggressive export strategy will no doubt yield even greater results in the coming years. We are delighted that our strategic export focus has been recognised and are honoured to accept this award”.
